Shelton House Museum strives to be a cornerstone of cultural preservation where history and heritage are honored, celebrated, and shared. Through community engagement we envision a future where our historic site and tradition continue to inspire and connect generations.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our season begins on May 1st and ends on October 31st. During the season, we are open Thursday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • The grounds are open all day, every day, regardless of our operating hours. There are plenty of beautiful places to sit and gardens to admire.

  • The Shelton House is accessible via the front door. Unfortunately, the second floor of the museum is not wheelchair accessible. The main floor of the Barn is accessible via a grass lawn on the side of the barn.

    Thursday of each month

  • The gardens on our property are entirely maintained by volunteers! We work closely with the Waynesville Garden Club and Mountain View Garden Club to keep the grounds beautiful.
